I shamelessly butchered a few different science fiction stories for this monstrosity. Awesome.
Eventually a physicist at Cern with metastasize a “tumor” similar to the stomach alien in Total Recall. The “tumor” will be a true embodiment of the Self Archetype, and as such, will have a direct connection to the Universal Unconsciousness, as theorized by Carl Jung. It will, in essence, be Stephen Hawking on acid, with slightly more pronounce mobility, and a preternatural cognitive ability for communication. Soon after, in a misguided attempt to reenact a Schwarzenegger film/Phillip K. Dick story, it will try to “activate the reactor”. This will lead to the atomization of the “tumor” and its host, who in a strange twist of fate, will momentarily take on all the characteristics of Dr. Manhattan before quickly dissipating into nonbeing, while the “tumor” fuses with the Large Hadron Collider and therefore achieving the technological singularity. Human evolution will then progress at a rapid rate as we shed our “humanity” in an effort to fuse technology and biology in order to achieve a form of “immortality” as an advanced A.I. modeled off our our original psyche. In the end, Homo sapiens will either be destroyed, assimilated into a new technologically based species, or will wage a war against the Machines. In all scenarios, the end factor is a form of sentient machine overlord similar to Skynet. Only it is a “tumor”.
